Eiscafé Venezia 2 – Wuppertal
The Evolution of a Success: Italian Bespoke Design in the Heart of Germany
Following the success of the first Eiscafé Venezia renovation, the client entrusted me with an even more ambitious challenge: the creation of Eiscafé Venezia 2 from the ground up. Located just a short distance from the original venue, in the vibrant center of Wuppertal, the new project represents the evolution of a successful concept, combining Italian design, functionality, and craftsmanship in a completely new space.
The Project and Spatial Vision
This was not a simple renovation, but a complete new creation within a charming historic building. The analysis and concept development process began long before the structural demolition works (managed directly by the client and the property owner), a crucial phase that allowed us to optimize every square meter and define the functional layout down to the smallest detail.
The project was designed to meet specific operational and regulatory requirements:
- Maximum efficiency and flexibility: achieved through the inclusion of a large washing area and a kitchen dedicated to the preparation of quick-service dishes.
- Service ergonomics: defined through the design and study of a large, imposing work counter.
- Regulatory compliance: achieved through the precise resizing of the service areas in accordance with the strict requirements of the German public health authority.

Concept, Materials and Atmosphere
The design, art direction, and selection of materials were entirely entrusted to my signature. I aimed to create a sober, elegant, and contemporary atmosphere, capable of blending the warmth of tradition with fluid and light lines:
- Essences and colors: The natural warmth of oak wood intertwines with the delicate pink tones in the counter area, punctuated by black graphic accents and large white surfaces. e ampie superfici bianche.
- Furniture: Large bespoke benches interact with comfortable, lightweight, and essential chairs, featuring a copper-effect structure and clean white seats.
- Artistic reference: Serving as a backdrop and adding depth to the space, a striking decorative wallpaper pays tribute to Venice, bringing art and Italian identity into the interior.
Project Management and International Logistics
Despite the complexities of the period (with the construction site facing delays linked to the COVID-19 pandemic and local building timelines) and the geographical distance, the project management was flawless.
Operating in northern Germany requires perfect logistics. For this reason, I coordinate on-site works through a trusted local representative, supported by a team of highly skilled Italian craftsmen who have been working with me for years. This synergy allows me to ensure absolute quality control, from the initial concept through to the final delivery of the completed project.

The Result
The living area unfolds as a fluid open space, where every piece of furniture is designed not to obstruct the visual connection with the outdoors.
- Living area: The sofa was entirely custom-made to follow the specific angle of the wall, creating a comfortable nest from which to admire the sea horizon.
- Kitchen and dining area: The kitchen, compact and highly functional, elegantly integrates all services, including a concealed laundry space. A practical snack counter sits alongside the main dining table, which is enhanced and illuminated by the iconic design of a Kartell lamp.
Today, the venue represents the perfect blend of outstanding aesthetics and strategic functionality. Located in a central, high-traffic area of Wuppertal, Eiscafé Venezia 2 has become an urban landmark, achieving remarkable public success from the very opening and full client satisfaction.
